Description: System valves are the isolation points for the water distribution system. They include all valve types - ball, gate, butterfly etc. Size is not a consideration. The defining characteristic is that they allow isolation of the water distribution system. Hydrant valves are part of the System Valve feature class, but are separated visually for Cityworks & Map-it.Hydrant valves represent the location where the individual fire hydrant can be isolated. This is useful for operational purposes to control the flow of water for maintenance. Not all fire hydrants have isolating valves.
